She has numerous medical issues including daytime apnoea and seizures. However, even with all her medical problems, she remains a happy young lady who is loved by everyone. Full training will be given including suction, nebulisers. Oxygen (breathing), stats monitor,CPR, moving and handling, catheter, gastrostomy button, JIJ and epilepsy training Experience or Qualifications: Applicants need to be confident and flexible, preferably with experience of working with children/teenagers I also need to have a driver who holds a UK driving licence for insurance purposes. You will also need access to a vehicle to access our home as we do not live on a bus route. Additional hours may become available and you may be required to cover for other PA’s whilst they are on Annual leave or Sick, so I am looking for someone who is flexible. The first PA would work one 2 hour shift in the afternoon, one 2 hour shift in the evening, and one 1.5 hour shift at night every Monday – Friday.   Afternoon shift:- Start 1.30pm End 3.30pm Evening shift:- Start 6.00pm End 8.00pm Night shift:- Start 10.00pm End 11.30pm.   The second PA would work one 2 hour shift in the afternoon, one 2 hour shift in the evening, and one 1.5 hour shift at night every weekend Saturday and Sunday.   Afternoon shift:- Start 1.30pm End 3.30pm Evening shift:- Start 6.00pm End 8.00pm Night shift:- Start 10.00pm End 11.30pm.   Applicants must be flexible to work when needed to cover other personal assistants’ sickness.   The third job role is to take on emergency work as a bank staff member. About the Direct Payment Holder   The client is an 11-year-old girl with Alstrom syndrome, which involves multi-sensory impairment. She is severely sight impaired, uses a long cane, and has hearing loss, for which she uses hearing aids.
Hours and rate of pay £18.02 per hour (Saturday or Sunday, and weekdays during school holidays)
Location Watford (WD24)
DBS/Checks Confirmation of DBS check Right to Work and references will be needed.
Training Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required: • Safeguarding Children • Paediatric first aid • Health and Safety / Moving and handling  
What you would be doing…   Provide personal care, such as helping the client get dressed, organising her clothes and bedroom, brushing her hair, and maintaining and cleaning her glasses and hearing aids. Assist during meals: preparing snacks, placing food on her plate, warming up food in the microwave, pouring drinks, and cleaning dishes. Ensure her face is clean after eating. Drive the client to cafés and cinemas using your own car (business insurance required).
Required skills and experience   Female   Experience working in the care sector and with individuals with multi-sensory impairments is preferred.   Valid driving license, own car, and business insurance.   Kind, patient, and empathetic.   Ability to engage the client in conversations, listen to her, and make her feel positive about herself.   Permanent part-time role mainly weekends and school holidays.
