PERSONAL ASSISTANT(S) VACANCY – Wivenhoe (CO7) – 144401   Maternity leave cover required from 1^st December 2025 until 31^st July 2026   We are looking for person(s) to join our friendly team to look after a gentleman in his own home.  The gentleman has learning disability, physical disability, no speech and epilepsy.  He enjoys being outside in the community, great sense of humour, loves motorbikes, going sailing and swimming amongst other things.  You must demonstrate a genuine interest in working with learning disabilities (show empathy, respect, promote dignity), helping the gentleman to maintain as much independence as possible.  Helping with all aspects of daily living.  You must be able to work as part of a team, help to cover annual leave and sick days.  Knowledge of learning disability and epilepsy is not necessary as full training will be given.   If you have a passion for caring for others, a positive can-do attitude, compassionate, friendly nature, empathetic and enjoy great company and humour, can work as part of a team, this could be the job for you.   Shifts:  8.30am to 16.30pm, 16.30 – 22.00 Weekdays and evenings and some weekend days Two overnight shifts: 16.30 – 8.30 per four-week rota.   Rota –   Week 1 – 35 hours Week 2 – one overnight plus 27-day hours Week 3 – 35 hours Week 4 – one overnight plus 19-day hours   Pay: £12.21 up to £14.20 per hour   Duties:

• Assisting with personal care
• Assisting with eating and drinking
• Laundry
• Preparing food and cooking
• Assisting with shopping
• Medication administration
• Light housework
• Accessing the community and activities

  Essential:

• Must be 25 years of age or over
• Must hold a clean full UK driving licence
• Subject to an enhanced DBS check
• English speaking is preferred

About the Direct Payment Holder	A happy young male aged 17 with complex needs is seeking a Support Worker. He enjoys watching TV (especially football) and relaxing in his adapted living space at home. He has severe developmental impairment (Tuberous Sclerosis), is non-verbal, and uses incontinence pads. He also has epilepsy, experiencing regular seizures (usually 1–2 per day). He is mobile in safe environments such as home, school, and family houses. He enjoys playing with his toys and can feed himself finger food, but requires assistance with drinks and cannot use cutlery. When out in the community, he uses a wheelchair due to seizures and lack of awareness of dangers.
Hours and rate of pay	Flexible hours during school holidays, up to 10 hours per week, and some weekends   £12.50 per hour
Location	Cambridge (CB21)

Training	Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required: • Safeguarding Adults • Introduction to first aid • Health and Safety / Moving and handling
What you would be doing…	Providing support at home and in the community Supervising in the home environment, ensuring safety while he enjoys his adapted area, garden, and play Taking for walks to the park (using wheelchair) Supporting with personal care, including changing pads when needed Assisting with meals, drinks, and access to snacks Supporting with safe mobility and supervision during activities
Required skills and experience	Experience of supporting individuals with special and complex needs is preferred, ideally in a SEND school or care environment Kind, patient, and relaxed nature Comfortable supporting both complex needs and personal care Must have access to a vehicle due to home location (no regular bus routes available)
