What you would be doing…	This role begins with 2 to 3 hours on a Saturday or Sunday, with potential to increase hours over time and provide additional support during school holidays once a trusting relationship is built. D will also have an opportunity to socialise with other young people and develop his social and communication skills.
The person I would like…	Experience of supporting others with learning disabilities is important as is knowledge of the behaviours and challenges learning disabilities can bring. Someone who is warm and friendly who can offer some reliable commitment and is good at time keeping. Someone who can communicate clear boundaries in an easy to understand way, who is willing to be interactive & encouraging in order to improve and develop skills. When frustrated, D can display behaviours such as hitting, biting & hair pulling although this behaviour is usually towards his mum or younger sibling you will need to learn some preventative/ distraction techniques.
