What you would be doing… Supporting A in the home setting, keeping him engaged throughout the day with  sensory filled activities. Helping boost A’s confidence, to broaden his interests and support to develop his independence skills.
Required skills and experience Knowledge of Autism and PICA is essential, along with experience in supporting someone with challenging behaviours. The person must be vigilant and highly aware in order to assess the environment and ensure A’s safety. They should have a kind and caring nature, be active, and be happy to get involved in the things J enjoys to help him stay engaged. They also need to be able to assess situations and adjust activities accordingly if A becomes heightened or disengaged.

About me I live in the community in my own home, with no access to the outside due to my health conditions. My main diagnosis is Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (diagnosed in 2008) which means I suffer from excruciating pain daily. This means I am largely bedbound and I am unable to carry out daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, organising my home etc. With the right support in place, I wish to improve my health as much as possible, to the point of being able to spend time outside my home as I love the outdoors. Whilst I am bedbound I spend my time, watching true crime documentaries, YouTube videos and have interest in the Health and Beauty industry as this is what I did before my diagnosis.

What you would be doing… Accompanying J in the community, keeping her safe and managing her seizures, the seizures are mostly absence seizures where she becomes disorientated and unaware of her surroundings. Accompanying J to doctors appointments and making notes of what is said to share with J’s family. Filling J’s Pivotal meds fortnightly, meaning J can be independent with her medication.
Required skills and experience Some experience of epilepsy is preferred – training will be provided. It is important you are a patient person, someone who can be with J and looking out for her in a discreet way, not making it obvious J has a PA. It is important that you can manage the unexpected, J’s seizures are unpredictable in nature.

About the Direct Payment Holder E is a 7 year old boy with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder, delayed and disordered speech and language and sensory needs.  E follows a gluten, oat and diary free diet due to being intolerant. E enjoys sensory play with rice, lentils or leaves in the park, he has mobility difficulties and uses a buggy outdoors.
Hours and rate of pay  hours 69 hours available to use at weekends payable at £13 per hour.
Location Cambridge – CB5
DBS/Checks Confirmation of DBS check Right to Work and references will be needed.
What you would be doing… Supporting E to build on his independence from his mum, broadening his interests and encouraging him to socialize with other young people in a supportive and structured environment.
Required skills and experience Someone who has experience of supporting others with ASD with a knowledge of the challenges the condition can bring.  E can at times put himself on the floor and repeatedly bang his head, it is important you learn triggers for this behaviour and the distraction methods needed to keep him safe. Someone who is patient, kind and encouraging in order to improve and develop skills. If you are passionate about supporting others to flourish we would like to hear from you.
