| Job Title | Support Worker – Cambridge (CB4) – PUR-018-073 |
| About the service user | I am a 36-year-old lady living with my parents in Cambridge. I am severely autistic with a severe speech disorder and small hearing loss. I have a medical condition, hydrocephalus. I will need some help with personal care but mainly a friend who can do activities in the home to occupy me. I only want a small number of hours initially with possibilities to increase in the future as I struggle with making new social contacts. I live in a fully equipped home with lots of resources. |
| Hours and rate of Pay | 5 – 7 hours per week £17 per hour Enhanced DBS clearance is essential |
| What you would be doing… | You will be helping with daily routines, personal care, cooking, sewing, crafting, shopping, doing puzzles, looking at childrens books, watching childrens DVDs with me and listening to my audio tapes. We would like you to be able in time to get involved in preparing projects and initiating ideas if able. |
| The person I would like… | I would like someone kind, patient, trustworthy, with very good communication skills. A driver would be great but is not essential. You must be able to tolerate repetition and working alone sometimes. Initially you will be expected to work alongside parents using observation skills to learn the requirements. Further training opportunities may be available should you want them. We need a commitment to a lasting relationship due to my difficulties relating to new people and the time required to learn the skills to support me effectively. You will need to understand that my needs change hourly pending my health and mood, therefore duties will then become varied. We have one young, small dog. English GCSE required. Willingness and interest to learn how to support me using my voice aided communication device. I use different communication strategies; written, signed (signed supporting English) and spoken but mainly voice aided communication with my Lightwriter. We look forward to meeting you and thanks for looking. “Please note that this advert has been placed on behalf of one of our customers. Should your application be successful, and you are offered the position, you will be directly employed by the customer and not by Purple” |
