About the Person You Will Support:I am a young man and I have a neurological condition called Friedreich’s Ataxia. It means that I am wheelchair bound and struggle with everyday activities such as washing, dressing, preparing meals and going to the toilet. I also have limited vocal ability however I am able to communicate and conversate well. I have full cognitive function
Key Responsibilities:Provide personal care, including washing, dressing and toileting. Support the individual to maintain independence and follow daily routines. Follow care plans, risk assessments, and health and safety procedures at all times. Assist with light domestic tasks such as tidying and laundry where appropriate. Support with meals, hydration, medication, and exercise. Promote safeguarding, dignity, privacy, and respect in all aspects of care. Maintain clear and effective communication with the Personal Assistant team, family members, and other professionals involved in the individual's care. Support community access, social activities, and attendance at appointments, ensuring all needs are met.
Requirements:I am looking for a Personal Assistant to provide support with everyday tasks, eating and drinking, medication administration, exercise, community access, and transport to appointments. This is a 2:1 support role due to changing care needs, so applicants must be able to work effectively as part of a team. Previous care experience is preferred but not essential, as full training can be provided. Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and be confident driving a manual vehicle. An active, positive, and forward-thinking approach is important, along with a willingness to engage in community activities and suggest new ideas and opportunities.
