We are looking for a cheerful and enthusiastic support worker who enjoys community based activities. Someone who will interact with L and be encouraging to promote independence and improve & develop skills. If you have similar interests that would be great. L responds well to routine so good time keeping skills are important. A driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential for this role – mileage money will be paid. | About the Person You Will Support: | I is a happy 4year old girl, she has a diagnosis of ASD, PICA, social communication and learning delay. I is pre verbal she speaks occasional words and uses hand leading to communicate her needs. I can become dysregulated usually due to frustration and can harm herself by biting or pinching. I’s favourite things are listening to nursery rhymes, being outside bouncing, spinning and jumping and going to the park, she is very energetic |
| Key Responsibilities: | Supporting I to experience new things as well as what she already enjoys which, in turn it is hoped will improve her communication skills. You will be a trusted adult for I to have fun with, aside from her mum and dad |
| Requirements: | Experience of supporting other young people with additional needs is essential, lived experience is very welcome. Someone who is reliable, fun and energetic, I responds well to happy outgoing people. Someone kind and understanding, who will engage with I in her activities and be encouraging to improve and develop skills. A good communicator who can be calm and reassuring, during periods of dysregulation, you will need to learn triggers for this behaviour.
