About the Person You Will Support:I am a friendly and easy-going 54-year-old lady living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). I work part-time and am looking for a Personal Assistant to help me maintain my independence at home. I enjoy having a chat and would love to find someone friendly, reliable and understanding who can support me with day-to-day tasks. I share my home with my cat, so it is important that you like cats and do not have any allergies. Experience of supporting someone with MS would be beneficial, although the right attitude, patience and willingness to help are just as important.
Key Responsibilities:Your role will involve supporting me with everyday tasks around my home, including laundry and washing, changing bed linen, light household chores, and general housekeeping tasks. You will also provide personal care support, including assistance with showering, help me attend medical appointments, support me with shopping trips, and provide friendly companionship and conversation while helping me maintain my independence. As the role involves personal care, including assistance with showering, I would feel more comfortable with a female carer. This is an occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010
Requirements:I am looking for someone who is friendly, approachable, reliable, trustworthy, kind, patient and respectful. You should be comfortable working independently and happy to provide practical household support. Being a good communicator who enjoys conversation is important, as is being comfortable around cats and not having any cat allergies. A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential, as you will be required to drive me to appointments and support me with shopping trips when needed. Experience and Qualifications Previous experience supporting someone with MS would be desirable but is not essential. Experience in a support worker, personal assistant or care role would also be beneficial. Knowledge or experience of Multiple Sclerosis (MS), previous community or home based support experience, First Aid training, and safeguarding awareness would be advantageous. A Message From Me I am looking for someone who is warm, friendly and dependable, and who can provide practical support while helping me remain independent in my own home. The ability to drive is particularly important, as I need support accessing appointments and shops. If you enjoy making a positive difference and would like to support a friendly lady with day-to-day tasks, I would love to hear from you. Please send your CV, two references and a short covering letter explaining your suitability for the role. Thank you. Sponsorship is not available for this role No agencies please.
