| About the Person You Will Support: | My name is J, I am 21 years old and live with my family in Southend-on-Sea. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, going to the gym, attending physiotherapy, shopping, gaming, and getting out into the community. My independence is very important to me, and I am looking for a Personal Assistant to support me in living an active and fulfilling life. I have a diagnosis of ADHD, OCD and Anxiety, and I am tetraplegic following Transverse Myelitis. Despite this, I remain positive and motivated to improve my strength, mobility and independence |
| Key Responsibilities: | You will provide one-to-one support with my personal care, health needs, daily routine, and community activities. You will accompany me to appointments and social outings, support me with maintaining my independence, and help always ensure my safety and wellbeing. You will assist with aspects of my specialist care, including support with spinal cord injury-related needs, exercise programmes, and the use of specialist equipment following full training |
| Requirements: | I am looking for someone who is reliable, caring, patient, and respectful of my independence. You should be confident, able to use your initiative, and comfortable supporting a young adult with complex physical disabilities. Previous care experience is desirable, but not essential, as full specialist training will be provided. Experience supporting individuals with spinal injuries, complex care needs, or neurological conditions would be advantageous. Training will be provided in areas including spinal cord injury awareness, autonomic dysreflexia (AD), bowel care, intermittent catheterisation, cough assist machine support, and manual handling techniques. Most importantly, I am looking for someone who is friendly, professional, and committed to helping me lead an active and independent life.
