About the Person You Will Support:An opportunity has arisen for a friendly, positive and reliable Personal Assistant to support a bubbly and sociable 55-year-old woman who is a permanent wheelchair user. She enjoys living life to the fullest, having a laugh and spending time with people who have a positive outlook on life. She is largely independent with her personal care but would benefit from practical assistance with everyday tasks, companionship and support to maintain her independence and enjoy activities both at home and in the local community. The successful applicant will provide friendly companionship and practical support, helping with the simple things in daily life that enable her to remain independent and enjoy a good quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:Providing friendly companionship and social interaction. Preparing and heating meals. Supporting with organising medication. Assisting with opening and closing windows and doors when required. Carrying out light cleaning and general household organisation. Helping with everyday tasks that enable the individual to maintain her independence. Assisting with shoes and preparing to access the community using a motorised wheelchair. Accompanying the individual on occasional short walks into Bishop’s Stortford. Supporting with occasional lunch trips, light shopping and other local activities. Providing practical assistance while encouraging independence and personal choice
Requirements:Have a positive and upbeat outlook on life.  Be friendly, sociable and good company.  Have a good sense of humour and enjoy having a laugh.  Be kind, helpful and respectful.  Be reliable and trustworthy.  Be flexible regarding working days and times.  Be comfortable supporting a wheelchair user.  Understand the importance of promoting independence, dignity and personal choice.  Be happy to provide companionship as well as practical support.  Ideally live locally or within easy travelling distance of Bishop’s Stortford. No previous care experience or formal qualifications are required. The right personality, attitude and ability to build a positive and trusting working relationship are most important
