About the Person You Will Support:I am a 49-year-old lady living in Balby. I have multiple sclerosis and scoliosis and use an electric wheelchair to help me remain independent and get out and about. I am usually able to drive and enjoy maintaining as much independence as possible. Although I am a wheelchair user, on good days I like to walk around my home using a rollator. Due to my conditions, I have both good days and bad days, which means the amount of support I need can vary from day to day. I share custody of my dog, Luna, with my ex-partner. Luna is 5 years old and can be quite shy when she first meets people, but once she gets to know you, she will happily ask for lots of belly rubs and snacks. I am looking for a caring and reliable Personal Assistant to support me with daily living tasks and help me continue living as independently as possible.
Key Responsibilities:Your role will involve supporting me at home and in the community, including assisting me with dressing, helping me safely get in and out of the shower (I am able to wash myself independently), preparing meals and assisting with food preparation, completing light household duties, accompanying me shopping, supporting me to attend appointments, assisting me to access social and leisure activities, helping me maintain my independence and quality of life, working alongside other members of my support team, and providing flexible cover for sickness and annual leave where possible. We will use my vehicle for journeys to appointments, shopping trips and days out.
Requirements:I would preferably like a female Personal Assistant, although the most important thing is finding the right person for the role. I am looking for someone who is caring, friendly and supportive, reliable and trustworthy, confident and able to take initiative when required, flexible and willing to work as part of a team, happy to support me both at home and in the community, respectful of my independence and choices, and comfortable around dogs. A driver with access to their own vehicle would be preferred but is not essential. Previous care experience is not essential as training can be provided and all aspects of the role can be learned on the job. The right attitude, willingness to learn and commitment to supporting me to lead as normal a life as possible are more important than previous experience. I am looking for someone who understands the importance of promoting independence and who is willing to work with myself and the rest of my support team to ensure I can continue living life the way I choose. Please send your CV, two references and a short covering letter explaining your suitability for the role. * Sponsorship is not available for this role * * No agencies please *
