PUR-916-268 About me A family in Bishop’s Stortford is looking for a compassionate, reliable and engaging Personal Assistant to support two neurodivergent siblings aged 9 and 12. Both children are highly masking, have autism/ADHD profiles (ADHD/ASD), Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and experience anxiety. The role is primarily to provide companionship and support within the family home, allowing other family members to have short periods of respite. The children enjoy spending time gaming and may sometimes prefer quiet companionship, while at other times they may enjoy chatting, playing indoor games, spending time in the garden or sharing their interests. The family also has a friendly Labrador and a hamster, so the successful applicant must be comfortable around pets. Hours and rate of pay 4 hours per week (days to be agreed) Location Bishop’s Stortford (CM23) DBS/Checks Confirmation of DBS check required Right to Work documentation and references will be needed Training Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required: • Safeguarding • Introduction to first aid • Health and Safety What you would be doing… Providing companionship and emotional support to one or both children. Engaging in activities such as video games, board games and other age appropriate play. Respecting when the children prefer quiet, low-demand interaction. Preparing simple drinks and snacks. Potentially supporting the children with community outings in the future, once they feel comfortable. The person I would like… Have experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, anxiety and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). Understand and be able to use a low-demand, child-led approach. Be patient, calm and able to build trusting relationships. Be energetic and happy to engage in play, while also being comfortable simply being present when the children need space. Have an interest in, or willingness to learn about, games such as Minecraft and Roblox. Hold Paediatric First Aid/CPR and anaphylaxis training, including the administration of adrenaline (or be willing to undertake this training). Be reliable, punctual and trustworthy, with excellent references. A full, clean UK driving licence, access to a vehicle and business insurance are preferred, although these are not essential. About the Person You Will Support:	A friendly 54 year old lady, who is partially sighted, has epilepsy and left sided cerebral palsy. She loves knitting and would love someone who shares her passion for this and also likes to listen to the radio and having a good chat. She is able to get around her bungalow easily, would ideally like someone to be good company for her.

Key Responsibilities:	He is looking for a caring Personal Assistant to support him in accessing local holiday activities, building confidence, developing independence, and having fun. Support with personal care, including toileting, will also be required.

About the Person You Will Support:	Part-time Personal Assistant required to support a fourth-year Durham University student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at St Aidan's College – Durham University.
Key Responsibilities:	The role involves providing tailored support to promote independence, wellbeing, academic progress, social development, and career planning. This includes meeting with the student regularly, helping with organisation, time management, daily living routines, coursework deadlines, and building social confidence, while maintaining communication with the student's family and college where appropriate. The position is for 5 hours per week during term time (29 weeks per academic year, maximum 144 hours) and pays £20 per hour plus pro-rata holiday pay.
Requirements:	Applicants should have experience supporting neurodivergent young adults, particularly those with ASD, and possess strong communication, empathy, patience, and interpersonal skills. An Enhanced DBS check, right to work documentation, and references are required. Candidates based in or near Durham City are preferred. On days when the weather is poor, she enjoys jigsaws, colouring and baking. She has previously enjoyed tenpin bowling and would benefit from support to re-engage in this activity.
Key Responsibilities:	Prompting and supporting with personal care, dressing and daily routines. Supporting access to the community and outdoor activities. Encouraging participation in hobbies and meaningful activities at home. Prompting and assisting with preparing drinks and lunch. Promoting independence and wellbeing.
Requirements:	Experience in care or supporting individuals with additional needs. Patient, kind, enthusiastic and encouraging approach. Creative and able to suggest engaging activities. DBS check, right to work documentation and references required. Self-employed status with UTR number and Public Liability Insurance.
