| About the Person You Will Support: | An opportunity has arisen for a kind, reliable and adaptable Female Personal Assistant to support a physically disabled woman who is an electric wheelchair user. The successful applicant will provide person-centred support, enabling the individual to live her life in the way she chooses and maintain as much independence, choice and control as possible. The role requires someone who understands the importance of listening, following directions and adapting their support to the individual's specific needs and preferred ways of doing things. |
| Key Responsibilities: | Support is required for approximately 2.5 hours during morning shifts and 1 hour during evening shifts, together with flexible hours for social activities and community support. Current support requirements include Monday evening, Tuesday morning, Wednesday morning and evening, and Thursday morning. Some flexibility and a mixture of these shifts may be required. The position is initially to provide cover for sickness and holidays but may have the potential to become permanent. Providing assistance with personal care. Supporting with transfers and the safe use of wheelchairs. Organising medication. Preparing meals and cooking. Cleaning and general household tasks. Laundry and changing bed linen. Shopping and running errands. Putting out household rubbish. Carrying out occasional light DIY tasks. Collecting and returning parcels. Supporting with walks, shopping trips and other social activities in the community. Please send a CV (with 2 references) and a covering letter explaining why you would suit this role. | Requirements: | Be kind, caring, patient and trustworthy. Be punctual, reliable and committed. Be adaptable and flexible according to the individual's needs. Be a good listener and able to follow directions. Respect the individual's home, belongings and routines, including returning items to their correct places. Understand the importance of dignity, privacy, choice and independence. Be comfortable providing support in the individual's preferred way, including following specific guidance regarding moving, handling and transfers. Have previous experience in care work or working with Direct Payments, although this is desirable rather than essential. Be willing to undertake training on the job to learn the individual's specific support needs. Driving Requirements The successful applicant must hold a valid driving licence, have access to their own car and have appropriate insurance for work-related travel. This position is open to female applicants only due to the personal and intimate care requirements of the role.
