\nAbout me
\nI am a lady in my 60s living independently in my own home in Armthorpe. I have
\nspina bifida and am paralysed from the waist down. I use a powered wheelchair
\nand have good upper body strength, but require support with many day-to-day
\ntasks, personal care and transfers. I also have lymphoedema\/lipoedema affecting
\nmy legs, recurrent cellulitis infections and a pressure wound which is monitored by
\nDistrict Nurses. My family have supported me for many years and I am now
\nlooking to build a team of caring and reliable Personal Assistants to help me
\nremain independent and continue living life happily in my own home. I enjoy a
\ngood chat and value kindness, patience and a sense of humour.
\nHours and rate of
\npay
\nRate of pay: \u00a312.71 per hour
\nHours:30 hours per week. Support is required across 7 days per week and may
\ninclude some overnight support when required.
\nLocation Armthorpe, Doncaster
\nDBS\/Checks Enhanced DBS check required.
\nRight to Work and references will be needed.
\nWhat you would be
\ndoing\u2026- Providing personal care and continence support.- Assisting with dressing and daily living activities.- Supporting transfers using slide sheets, leg slings and hoist equipment.- Assisting with showering and personal hygiene.- Preparing meals, snacks and drinks.- Supporting with medication and monitoring wellbeing when required.- Changing bedding daily and undertaking laundry tasks.- Light household duties and maintaining a clean environment.- Supporting with shopping, appointments and social activities.- Providing companionship and social interaction.- Providing occasional overnight support during periods of ill health.- Working as part of a double-handed team when required for transfers.
\nThe person I would
\nlike\u2026- Kind, patient, trustworthy and reliable.- Willing to learn and undertake training.- Flexible and able to adapt to changing daily needs.- A good communicator with an approachable personality.- Someone who can work independently and use their initiative.- Experience in care is welcome but not essential as training will be provided.- Experience of moving and handling, hoist use, medication support or health
\nmonitoring would be beneficial.- A driver with access to their own vehicle would be advantageous, although not
\nessential.
\nAs personal care is involved, I would feel more comfortable with a female carer. This advert is exempt
\nunder Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
