\nAbout me
\nA family in Bishop’s Stortford is looking for a compassionate, reliable and
\nengaging Personal Assistant to support two neurodivergent siblings aged 9 and
\n12. Both children are highly masking, have autism\/ADHD profiles (ADHD\/ASD),
\nPathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and experience anxiety.
\nThe role is primarily to provide companionship and support within the family
\nhome, allowing other family members to have short periods of respite. The
\nchildren enjoy spending time gaming and may sometimes prefer quiet
\ncompanionship, while at other times they may enjoy chatting, playing indoor
\ngames, spending time in the garden or sharing their interests.
\nThe family also has a friendly Labrador and a hamster, so the successful
\napplicant must be comfortable around pets.

\nTraining
\nTraining will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:
\n\u2022 Safeguarding
\n\u2022 Introduction to first aid
\n\u2022 Health and Safety
\nWhat you would
\nbe doing\u2026
\nProviding companionship and emotional support to one or both children.
\nEngaging in activities such as video games, board games and other age
\nappropriate play.
\nRespecting when the children prefer quiet, low-demand interaction.
\nPreparing simple drinks and snacks.
\nPotentially supporting the children with community outings in the future, once
\nthey feel comfortable.
\nThe person I
\nwould like\u2026
\nHave experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, anxiety and
\nPathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).
\nUnderstand and be able to use a low-demand, child-led approach.
\nBe patient, calm and able to build trusting relationships.
\nBe energetic and happy to engage in play, while also being comfortable simply
\nbeing present when the children need space.
\nHave an interest in, or willingness to learn about, games such as Minecraft and
\nRoblox.
\nHold Paediatric First Aid\/CPR and anaphylaxis training, including the
\nadministration of adrenaline (or be willing to undertake this training).
\nBe reliable, punctual and trustworthy, with excellent references.
\nA full, clean UK driving licence, access to a vehicle and business insurance are
\npreferred, although these are not essential. Community outings may become
\npart of the role in the future.
