\nPayment Holder
\nA family in Letchworth is seeking a calm, patient and confident Personal
\nAssistant to support their son, who has just turned 11 years old. He has
\ndiagnoses of autism and ADHD and is physically fit and healthy. He is verbal,
\nusing short sentences, and can usually make his wants and needs known.
\nHe is generally a happy and energetic boy, though he can be challenging at
\ntimes and has no sense of danger. He enjoys being outdoors, swimming and
\nbowling and, trampolining (including using a trampoline at home), climbing,
\nvisiting parks, and going out in the car. He also enjoys cafes (especially cake!),
\npetting farms, bowling, and watching familiar TV programmes such as Andy\u2019s
\nPrehistoric Adventures, Gigglebiz and Postman Pat.
\nHe can be tactile with people he knows well, on his own terms. He dislikes
\nsudden loud noises (such as shouting) and loud singing,but enjoys singing along
\nto familiar nursery rhymes and children\u2019s TV songs. He uses stimming
\nbehaviours such as clapping and vocal noises to regulate himself, particularly in
\nbusy or unfamiliar environments.

\n4 hours per week
\nDays and times are flexible, though Saturday afternoons are ideal
\nLocation

\nTraining
\nTraining will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:
\n\u2022 Safeguarding Adults
\n\u2022 Introduction to first aid
\nWhat you would

\nProviding 1:1 support at home and in the community
\nTaking him out in the car to places he enjoys, such as:

\nSwimming
\nPetting farms
\nBowling
\nSupporting his safety when out, including use of a wrist strap to prevent him
\nrunning off (training provided)
\nSupporting with toileting, including accompanying him to the toilet, helping with
\nclothing, and wiping when needed
\nRemaining calm and supportive if he becomes upset or escalated, allowing him
\nspace and time to self-regulate
\nBeing attentive to sensory needs and environmental triggers (especially sudden
\nloud noises)
\nRequired skills
\nand experience
\nExperience working with children with autism and\/or ADHD, particularly those
\nwho may become distressed or escalate physically
\nCalm, patient, unflappable and confident in managing challenging situations
\nAble to remain quiet and nearby (without touching) when the child is upset,
\nallowing him to calm himself
\nPhysically able and reasonably strong, as he is tall for his age and can be
\ndetermined
\nComfortable supporting with personal care, including toileting and occasional
\nuse of pull-ups
\nMust drive and have access to own car, as the child enjoys car journeys
