He has<br \/>\ndiagnoses of autism and ADHD and is physically fit and healthy. He is verbal,<br \/>\nusing short sentences, and can usually make his wants and needs known.<br \/>\nHe is generally a happy and energetic boy, though he can be challenging at<br \/>\ntimes and has no sense of danger. He enjoys being outdoors, swimming and<br \/>\nbowling and, trampolining (including using a trampoline at home), climbing,<br \/>\nvisiting parks, and going out in the car. He also enjoys cafes (especially cake!),<br \/>\npetting farms, bowling, and watching familiar TV programmes such as Andy\u2019s<br \/>\nPrehistoric Adventures, Gigglebiz and Postman Pat.<br \/>\nHe can be tactile with people he knows well, on his own terms. He dislikes<br \/>\nsudden loud noises (such as shouting) and loud singing,but enjoys singing along<br \/>\nto familiar nursery rhymes and children\u2019s TV songs. He uses stimming<br \/>\nbehaviours such as clapping and vocal noises to regulate himself, particularly in<br \/>\nbusy or unfamiliar environments.<br \/>\nHours and rate of<br \/>\npay<br \/>\n4 hours per week<br \/>\nDays and times are flexible, though Saturday afternoons are ideal<br \/>\nLocation<br \/>\nLetchworth (SG6)<br \/>\nDBS\/Checks<br \/>\nConfirmation of DBS check<br \/>\nRight to Work and references will be needed.<br \/>\nTraining<br \/>\nTraining will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:<br \/>\n\u2022 Safeguarding Adults<br \/>\n\u2022 Introduction to first aid<br \/>\nWhat you would<br \/>\nbe doing\u2026<br \/>\n\u2022 Health and Safety \/ Moving and handling<br \/>\nProviding 1:1 support at home and in the community<br \/>\nTaking him out in the car to places he enjoys, such as:<br \/>\n\uf0b7<br \/>\nParks (especially swings)<br \/>\n\uf0b7<br \/>\n\uf0b7<br \/>\n\uf0b7<br \/>\n\uf0b7<br \/>\nCaf\u00e9s<br \/>\nSwimming<br \/>\nPetting farms<br \/>\nBowling<br \/>\nSupporting his safety when out, including use of a wrist strap to prevent him<br \/>\nrunning off (training provided)<br \/>\nSupporting with toileting, including accompanying him to the toilet, helping with<br \/>\nclothing, and wiping when needed<br \/>\nRemaining calm and supportive if he becomes upset or escalated, allowing him<br \/>\nspace and time to self-regulate<br \/>\nBeing attentive to sensory needs and environmental triggers (especially sudden<br \/>\nloud noises)<br \/>\nRequired skills<br \/>\nand experience<br \/>\nExperience working with children with autism and\/or ADHD, particularly those<br \/>\nwho may become distressed or escalate physically<br \/>\nCalm, patient, unflappable and confident in managing challenging situations<br \/>\nAble to remain quiet and nearby (without touching) when the child is upset,<br \/>\nallowing him to calm himself<br \/>\nPhysically able and reasonably strong, as he is tall for his age and can be<br \/>\ndetermined<br \/>\nComfortable supporting with personal care, including toileting and occasional<br \/>\nuse of pull-ups<br \/>\nMust drive and have access to own car, as the child enjoys car journeys<br \/>\nMale or female applicants welcome<br \/>\nPlease send a CV (with 2 references) and a covering letter explaining why you would suit this role.<br \/>\nThank you.<br \/>\n* Sponsorship is not available for this role *<br \/>\n* No agencies please *<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carer \/Support Worker Job ref.
