\nA 20 yr old male living in Marshalswick is looking for a compassionate and
\nreliable Personal Assistant to support him during his weekly placement at
\nEarthworks, a horticultural and gardening-focused day service. He has learning
\ndisabilities and autism and is non-verbal, though he understands and uses a few
\nMakaton signs.
\nHe enjoys the outdoors, music, and physical play, and has strong gross motor
\nskills but finds fine motor tasks more challenging. Communication requires
\npatience and attentiveness, but he responds well to a familiar, consistent, and
\nsupportive presence.
\nHours and rate of
\npay
\nFridays, 9:30 AM \u2013 1:30 PM (4 hours per week) to begin with. Potentially rising
\nto 6 hrs per week later on – \u00a319 per hour
\nLocation
\nSt Albans
\nDBS\/Checks
\nConfirmation of DBS check
\nRight to Work and references will be needed.
\nTraining
\nTraining will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:
\n\u2022 Safeguarding Adults\/
\n\u2022 Introduction to first aid
\n\u2022 Health and Safety \/ Moving and handling
\nWhat you would
\nbe doing\u2026
\nMust hold a full driving licence and have access to a car with business
\ninsurance
\nComfortable providing personal care when needed
\nExperience supporting individuals with autism or learning disabilities is required
\nAbility to use or learn basic Makaton is an advantage
\nRequired skills
\nand experience
\nPatient, with a calm and steady manner
\nEmpathetic, understanding the client’s communication style and needs
\nPositive and encouraging, helping to create a fun and safe environment
\nReliable and committed to building trust and consistency in the client’s weekly
\nroutine
