About the Direct Payment Holder<\/strong><\/td>\nA rewarding opportunity has arisen for a compassionate and reliable Personal Assistant to support a 19-year-old young woman living in Welwyn Garden City.<\/p>\n

She is non-verbal, autistic, and has severe learning disabilities. She is also visually impaired, although she manages this very well in her day-to-day life. In addition, she has congenital heart and lung disease (monitored by specialists) and epilepsy, which is managed with medication.<\/p>\n

She requires support with communication, social interaction, and engaging in meaningful activities. A small amount of assistance with personal care is also required, therefore a Female PA<\/strong> is essential for this role.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Hours and rate of pay <\/strong><\/td>\n\u00a319.45 per hour<\/p>\n

During term time, support is required 16 hours per week<\/strong>, across Tuesday to Friday<\/strong>, split into:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Morning:<\/strong> 7:00am \u2013 9:00am<\/li>\n
  • Afternoon:<\/strong> 3:30pm \u2013 5:30pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Holiday hours may be available, subject to confirmation, and may include support in the community.<\/p>\n

Supporting with morning routines (washing, dressing, breakfast, medication)<\/p>\n

Providing supervision and support while waiting for transport<\/p>\n

Meeting her after college transport and assisting with snacks<\/p>\n

Supporting with leisure activities and engagement at home<\/p>\n

Encouraging communication and interaction using non-verbal methods<\/p>\n

Supporting participation in social and community activities (during holidays)<\/p>\n

The ideal candidate will be:<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Attentive to detail and responsive to individual needs<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Respectful, promoting dignity, independence, and choice<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Positive, with a good sense of humour and the ability to build trust<\/p>\n

Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities<\/p>\n

First aid training<\/p>\n

Experience administering medication<\/p>\n

Knowledge or training in epilepsy (desirable)<\/p>\n

A driver with access to a vehicle is preferred, but not essential<\/p>\n
