\nAbout me
\nI am M, an amazing 18-year-old wheelchair user living in
\nBenfleet. I have complex learning, physical and medical needs
\ncaused by an extremely rare genetic condition. I am completely
\nnon-verbal and currently use PECS successfully for transitions
\nand \u201cI want\u201d sentences, alongside gestures and vocal sounds. My
\nworld can sometimes feel quite small, so I am looking for a kind,
\npatient and positive PA who can help me feel safe, confident and
\nhappy while encouraging me to explore my environment, enjoy
\nnew experiences and build my independence at my own pace.
\nHours and
\nrate of pay
\nStart date: August 2026. Rate of pay: \u00a315.75 per hour. Term-time
\nhours include 2 mornings per week, 7.00am\u20139.00am, to support
\ngetting ready for school; 1 evening per week, 2.00pm\u20138.00pm,
\nwith the start time open to discussion; and 1 x 12-hour weekend
\nshift per week, with shift days and times open to discussion.
\nDuring school holidays, there are 3 x 12-hour shifts available,
\nincluding covering existing team members\u2019 holidays and some
\nshifts working alongside another team member. Holiday pay is
\nincluded.
\nLocation
\nBenfleet. Some shifts may include accompanying me and my mum
\nto hospital appointments in London.
\nDBS\/
\nChecks
\nA DBS check, Right to Work check and references will be
\nrequired.
\nWhat you
\nwould be
\ndoing\u2026
\nYou would support me in my family home and out in the
\ncommunity, helping me build independence while making sure my
\ncomplex and sometimes intense medical needs are met safely and
\nwith care. You would assist with all personal care and support
\nneeds in a calm, respectful and reassuring way, including adult
\nled toilet training on a strict timetable. I currently wear pads, but
\nI am working hard and having good success using the toilet when
\nsupported. You would also support me with meals, snacks, fluids,
\ntube feeds and medications, following my routines and guidance
\nclosely. I have a mic-key button feeding tube for all fluid intake, 3
\nformula tube feeds a day and numerous hourly medications. I
\nneed spoon feeding for all main meals and consistent, gentle
\nprompting throughout snack times.
\nActivities I
\nenjoy
\nI enjoy my iPad at home and, with the right support and
\nencouragement, I love lots of fun and sensory activities. These
\ninclude tickles, massage, tactile play, cuddles, holding hands, foot
\nrubs, my garden swing going as high as your nerves allow, hydro
\nsessions, miniature railways, watching my favourite film,
\nsupermarket trips, escalators and lifts. No two shifts are the same
\nwith M, but there are always plenty of opportunities for smiles,
\nfun and special moments.
\nMedical
\ninformation
\nI have a number of diagnoses, including epilepsy, currently
\ncontrolled by medication with occasional short absence
\nbreakthrough seizures; cyclical vomiting syndrome, controlled
\nwith daily medication; cardiomyopathy, medicine controlled and
\nstrictly monitored; significant reflux; gut motility difficulties;
\nautonomic dysfunction; and severe autism. At times, I can have
\nsome challenging tactile behaviours, so I need someone who can
\nstay calm, patient and understanding, helping me move on and
\nsettle with kindness, confidence and care.

\nExperience is helpful, but what matters most is that you are
\nreliable, kind, confident following routines, willing to learn and
\nable to support me with dignity, warmth and respect. If you enjoy
\nmaking a real difference and being part of a close, caring team,
\nthis could be a lovely role for you.
