I have complex learning, physical and medical needs<br \/>\ncaused by an extremely rare genetic condition. I am completely<br \/>\nnon-verbal and currently use PECS successfully for transitions<br \/>\nand \u201cI want\u201d sentences, alongside gestures and vocal sounds. My<br \/>\nworld can sometimes feel quite small, so I am looking for a kind,<br \/>\npatient and positive PA who can help me feel safe, confident and<br \/>\nhappy while encouraging me to explore my environment, enjoy<br \/>\nnew experiences and build my independence at my own pace.<br \/>\nHours and<br \/>\nrate of pay<br \/>\nStart date: August 2026. Rate of pay: \u00a315.75 per hour. Term-time<br \/>\nhours include 2 mornings per week, 7.00am\u20139.00am, to support<br \/>\ngetting ready for school; 1 evening per week, 2.00pm\u20138.00pm,<br \/>\nwith the start time open to discussion; and 1 x 12-hour weekend<br \/>\nshift per week, with shift days and times open to discussion.<br \/>\nDuring school holidays, there are 3 x 12-hour shifts available,<br \/>\nincluding covering existing team members\u2019 holidays and some<br \/>\nshifts working alongside another team member. Holiday pay is<br \/>\nincluded.<br \/>\nLocation<br \/>\nBenfleet. Some shifts may include accompanying me and my mum<br \/>\nto hospital appointments in London.<br \/>\nDBS\/<br \/>\nChecks<br \/>\nA DBS check, Right to Work check and references will be<br \/>\nrequired.<br \/>\nWhat you<br \/>\nwould be<br \/>\ndoing\u2026<br \/>\nYou would support me in my family home and out in the<br \/>\ncommunity, helping me build independence while making sure my<br \/>\ncomplex and sometimes intense medical needs are met safely and<br \/>\nwith care. You would assist with all personal care and support<br \/>\nneeds in a calm, respectful and reassuring way, including adult<br \/>\nled toilet training on a strict timetable. I currently wear pads, but<br \/>\nI am working hard and having good success using the toilet when<br \/>\nsupported. You would also support me with meals, snacks, fluids,<br \/>\ntube feeds and medications, following my routines and guidance<br \/>\nclosely. I have a mic-key button feeding tube for all fluid intake, 3<br \/>\nformula tube feeds a day and numerous hourly medications. I<br \/>\nneed spoon feeding for all main meals and consistent, gentle<br \/>\nprompting throughout snack times.<br \/>\nActivities I<br \/>\nenjoy<br \/>\nI enjoy my iPad at home and, with the right support and<br \/>\nencouragement, I love lots of fun and sensory activities. These<br \/>\ninclude tickles, massage, tactile play, cuddles, holding hands, foot<br \/>\nrubs, my garden swing going as high as your nerves allow, hydro<br \/>\nsessions, miniature railways, watching my favourite film,<br \/>\nsupermarket trips, escalators and lifts. No two shifts are the same<br \/>\nwith M, but there are always plenty of opportunities for smiles,<br \/>\nfun and special moments.<br \/>\nMedical<br \/>\ninformation<br \/>\nI have a number of diagnoses, including epilepsy, currently<br \/>\ncontrolled by medication with occasional short absence<br \/>\nbreakthrough seizures; cyclical vomiting syndrome, controlled<br \/>\nwith daily medication; cardiomyopathy, medicine controlled and<br \/>\nstrictly monitored; significant reflux; gut motility difficulties;<br \/>\nautonomic dysfunction; and severe autism. At times, I can have<br \/>\nsome challenging tactile behaviours, so I need someone who can<br \/>\nstay calm, patient and understanding, helping me move on and<br \/>\nsettle with kindness, confidence and care.<br \/>\nThe person<br \/>\nI would<br \/>\nlike\u2026<br \/>\nI would love to find someone with a good sense of humour who is<br \/>\ncalm, enthusiastic, patient, positive-natured and full of smiles.<br \/>\nExperience is helpful, but what matters most is that you are<br \/>\nreliable, kind, confident following routines, willing to learn and<br \/>\nable to support me with dignity, warmth and respect.
