About the Direct Payment Holder<\/strong><\/td>\n <\/p>\n

A family in Harpenden is seeking a caring, trustworthy and experienced Female Carer to support their 8-year-old son with additional needs. He has global developmental delay, is non-verbal, incontinent, has epilepsy and is PEG fed. His seizures are well managed with medication and he has had only one seizure in the last four years.<\/p>\n

He is mobile and generally a happy child who enjoys going for walks, being out in the community and watching cars go by. The role involves providing consistent, compassionate 1:1 support to meet his personal care and daily support needs in a safe and nurturing way.<\/p>\n

Hours and rate of pay <\/strong><\/td>\nTerm time:<\/strong> 6 hours per week<\/p>\n

School holidays:<\/strong> 6 hours per week<\/p>\n

Rate of pay:<\/strong> \u00a320 per hour<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Location<\/strong><\/td>\nHertfordshire (AL5)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

What you would be doing\u2026<\/strong><\/td>\n <\/p>\n

Providing 1:1 support<\/strong> to an 8-year-old child with complex needs<\/p>\n

Supporting with all personal care<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • PEG feeding<\/li>\n
  • Changing pads<\/li>\n
  • Bathing<\/li>\n
  • Dressing and undressing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Taking him out into the community for walks, which he greatly enjoys<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Reading to him and engaging in gentle play and interaction<\/p>\n

    Supporting his safety, comfort and wellbeing at all times<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

Required skills and experience<\/strong><\/td>\nFemale PA required<\/strong><\/p>\n

Experience working with children or adults with additional\/special needs<\/strong><\/p>\n

Understanding of epilepsy and confidence in supporting someone with medical needs<\/p>\n

Must be able to drive<\/strong><\/p>\n

Patient, empathetic, caring and reliable<\/p>\n

Able to understand and respond to the complex needs of an individual with additional needs<\/p>\n

PEG feeding experience is not required and training will be provided<\/p>\n
