About the Direct Payment Holder<\/strong><\/td>\nThe Carer will support a 13-year-old young person with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a Learning Disability to access his local community and build confidence outside of the home.<\/p>\n

He is able to manage his own personal care; however, he may need gentle reminders for tasks such as handwashing or flushing the toilet.<\/p>\n

This is a rewarding role suited to someone who enjoys working with young people and helping them develop independence, confidence, and life skills.<\/p>\n

Hours and rate of pay <\/strong><\/td>\n4 hours per week (Saturday or Sunday, Morning preferred) (\u00a314.50 an hour)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Location<\/strong><\/td>\nLetchworth (SG6)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
DBS\/Checks<\/strong><\/td>\nConfirmation of DBS check<\/p>\n

Training <\/strong><\/td>\nTraining will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:<\/p>\n

What you would be doing\u2026<\/strong><\/td>\n <\/p>\n

The role will focus on supporting him to engage in meaningful activities such as shopping, going to the cinema, bowling, and other community-based outings that help extend his social and adult networks.<\/p>\n

The Carer will provide reassurance, encouragement, and coaching to help him step outside of his comfort zone in a safe and supportive way.<\/p>\n

Required skills and experience<\/strong><\/td>\n <\/p>\n

Experience of working with young people with Autism and\/or a Learning Disability is desirable<\/p>\n

Applications are also welcomed from individuals who are new to this type of role but are keen to learn and support vulnerable young people and their families<\/p>\n

A good understanding that communication comes in many forms, including verbal and non-verbal communication<\/p>\n

A calm, patient, and gentle approach<\/p>\n

Ability to encourage and motivate a young person in a positive and supportive manner<\/p>\n

Driver with access to their own vehicle<\/p>\n
