About the service user | B is a happy 6 year old boy with a diagnosis of Autism and learning delay. B is non verbal, he communicates using noises, hand leading and his communication book, B has no sense of danger and needs constant supervision.
B’s favourite interests are cars, buses & trains he enjoys riding them all and watching them on YouTube. B also likes visiting coffee shops and going to the park to feed the ducks, he is not so keen on other animals such as dogs, cats & horses.
B is happy in the company of others.

Hours and rate of Pay |
72 hours available to be used flexibly in school holidays/term time & weekends.
£12.50 per hour.
Enhanced DBS clearance is essential.

What you would be doing… |
Support sessions will be in the home environment initially until you get to know each other.
The aim is for B to access community activities with another trusted adult, improving his independence skills, giving him opportunities to choose what he wants to do and where he wants to go empowering him to make his own decisions and develop his confidence, he will also have opportunities to socialise with other young people and develop his communications skills.
B wears nappies full assistance with changing will be required.

It is important you have experience of supporting other young people with Autism and learning disabilities.
You will be someone who above all is kind, patient and has the ability to communicate firm boundaries.
Someone who is happy to be interactive and encouraging in order to improve and develop skills.
You will need to be sharp and alert, B needs constant supervision to keep him safe, he is fast and likes to run.
Routine is important for B, reliability is really important.
