Job Title: Support Worker (Care)

 

Location: Harlow (CM19)

 

Rate of Pay: £13.13 per hour weekdays, with enhancements for weekends and waking nights.

 

Hours: Part of a 24-hour team, with a range of shifts available including day/evenings/weekends/nights on a Rota basis.

 

Job Description:

 

To be part of a 24-hour care team providing a high level of support to a young lady with complex health needs and learning difficulties, in her family home. Candidates must be kind, reliable and compassionate and be able to see beyond her disability to promote a positive well-being and quality of life.

 

Main duties include support with personal care, administration of feeds/medication, hydration and nutrition, postural management requiring skilled moving and handling and seizure management.

Working alongside professionals including Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists and Teacher’s to support the client with their Educational needs.

To maintain a safe environment for the individual, taking into consideration her physical, cognitive, communication and sensory difficulties.

Monitor all health care needs.

Provide inclusive quality of life activities and enable choice and positive communication opportunities. Support the individual with enjoying Family time and enabling access to social activities outside of the home.

Support the use of a host of specialist equipment, including communication aids, moving and handling items, postural management systems and sensory equipment/games.

Specialist training will be provided.

 

Experience or Qualifications:

 

Essential:

Due to the personal nature of this role, the employer seeks to recruit female only staff

Basic mandatory training

Computer literate and able to keep clear and concise records

Excellent communication skills. Motivated and enthusiastic

Ability to work on own initiative

Clean driving licence

Flexibility to travel with individual if necessary

Willingness to undertake training

1 Years Experience in care and support of people with complex care needs and learning difficulties

 

 

Desirable:

Experience in working with education services, working with therapists in a rehabilitation setting and working in the community.

NVQ level 2,3 or 4 Health & Social Care

NVQ level 2,3 or 4 Children’s Care, Learning & Development

Covid vaccinations will be preferable and testing will be completed regularly.
