About the service user |
D is an energetic 4 year old boy who has a diagnosis of neurodiverse traits with cognitive rigidity and some sensory problems, particularly around food. D is speech delayed although his communication is improving he can become frustrated when he cannot express himself.
D likes to be on the go all the time and requires constant supervision, he likes going to the park he is good at gymnastics & climbing and is fascinated by buses and trains.

Hours and rate of Pay |
Approximately 3.5 hours a month paid at £12.50 per hour.
Enhanced DBS clearance is essential.

What you would be doing… |
Supporting D with opportunities to develop his independence away from his mum and his home environment.
D will develop his safety skills when in the community with you, he will be able to choose what he wants to do and where he wants to go with you as his 1:1 worker, empowering him to make his own decisions and develop his confidence.
D will also have an opportunity to socialise with other young people and develop his social and communication skills.

The person I would like… |
Experience of supporting others with learning disabilities is important as is knowledge of the behaviours and challenges learning disabilities can bring.
Someone who is warm and friendly who can offer some reliable commitment and is good at time keeping.
Someone who can communicate clear boundaries in an easy to understand way, who is willing to be interactive & encouraging in order to improve and develop skills.
When frustrated, D can display behaviours such as hitting, biting & hair pulling although this behaviour is usually towards his mum or younger sibling you will need to learn some preventative/ distraction techniques.
