Personal Assistant required – Cambridge (CB1) – area behind Anglia Ruskin University – PUR-368-728

 

About me:

Early 40’s male with severe learning difficulties. He is quite capable, but needs prompting for most things. It is not easy to understand what he is saying, but one learns.  He lives on his own, in his own home.

 

Hours and Rate of Pay:

This job is for 2 shifts on Sundays, just 2 Sundays a month: from 11 am to 5, then from 5 to 9pm.

There will be opportunities for more shifts to cover other PAs on leave, etc.

 

Rate of Pay:

£13.50 per hour

 

Person Specification:

Help with personal care such as help with toileting (mainly prompting)

Be willing to prepare food & meals.

Should have a genuine interest in the provision of high quality care, be able to work flexible hours and be a good communicator.

Possess the motivation to develop trust and understanding within the role.

Be hardworking, reliable,  committed, honest and trustworthy.  Have common sense and be able to use initiative.

Flexible and prepared to get involved – the client likes playing dominoes, doing art and going for at least one daily walk.

Be cheerful, patient and kind with a good sense of humour.

 

Role responsibilities:

Support with personal care in a dignified manner (mainly prompting),  meal preparation (including shopping for it) and cooking.

Support with everyday chores,  laundry,  maintaining the domestic environment to the required standard.

Support with social outings and taking the client out in to the community i.e. shopping, cinema, various activities.

Establish a close working relationship on a 1-1 basis.

Undertake any duties which may be reasonably allocated and fall within the scope responsibility of the job.

Needs may vary on a daily basis therefore duties and tasks may alter slightly.

 

Qualifications and Work Experience:

Formal training is not necessary, but experience with someone with learning difficulties as a child, a sibling or neighbour, or at school, would be good, but not essential.

Please note you will be employed by the client’s mother, not Purple.

You will be provided with a contract, statutory holidays, and the first 3 days sickness is paid.
