About the Direct Payment Holder | We require a personal assistant to support a direct payment holder who is visually impaired and has a muscle weakness rendering her a wheelchair user.
You will assist the teenager with personal care and other activities, mostly at home. Your role is to enable her to lead an individual and independent life in our home. She is a fun, vibrant young person who delights in socialising and learning. Building a positive and friendly relationship with her PA is a key requirement of the role. |
Hours and rate of pay | Part time, up to 3 hours over one or two shifts a week (Saturday evening, and possibly one evening per week or on a bank cover basis).
The hours of work will typically be between 6pm and 9pm. Pay is £20 per hour. |

Training | Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:
• Safeguarding Children • Paediatric first aid • Moving and handling

What you would be doing… | You will be supporting with various tasks which include personal care, getting ready for bed, light chores (e.g. tidying room, putting away clothes), support with school work and any preparation needed for school. You may also be accessing the community and supporting the teenager to take part in social activities. |
Required skills and experience | Seeking a PA with the qualities below:
· Be kind, considerate and caring · Having a good sense of humour and the ability to relate to young people is essential · Being physically fit is important given the support our daughter needs with moving and handling (our home has hoists) · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – the successful candidate must be outgoing with an engaging demeanour
