About the Direct Payment Holder  

A 28-year-old male, diagnosed with high-functioning Asperger’s and underlying mental health issues, is seeking a dedicated and experienced male Personal Assistant (PA) to provide support and companionship. The individual also has Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) that affects daily living, such as an aversion to using personal bins due to a fear of judgment.

Hours and rate of pay £18.02 per hour, 8 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 2 hours per day (timing is flexible).
Location SG12
DBS/Checks Confirmation of DBS check

Right to Work and references will be needed.

Training Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:

• Safeguarding Adults

• Introduction to first aid

• Health and Safety / Moving and handling

 

What you would be doing…  

Support with accessing local community activities such as going to the cinema, theatre, and potentially joining a gym. Occasional assistance with in-person grocery shopping.

Assistance with making and understanding telephone calls, managing social media and texting, scheduling appointments, and speaking with professionals.

Help with planning, problem-solving, and managing OCD-related rules, as well as budgeting. Assistance with home maintenance issues and communication with the housing team.

 

Required skills and experience  

Must have support worker experience, particularly with Asperger’s and mental health. Understanding of OCD and its impact on daily life is crucial.

 

It would be helpful for the PA to have their own car with business insurance. The individual is currently taking driving lessons, so the ability to discuss this experience is beneficial.

 

Seeking a male PA over the age of 35 who is organised, has good time management skills, and enjoys walking and staying fit. The ideal candidate will be able to encourage, challenge, and motivate the individual while recognising and managing their triggers.
