L is 22 years old and lives with a traumatic brain injury following a skiing
accident in 2024 (causing right-sided physical issues, balance difficulties, and
some cognitive challenges with memory and planning).
L was studying Computer Science at university before his accident. He is bright,
curious, active and committed to his recovery, with interests including learning
languages, maths, computer science, computer games, chess.
He still loves sports (he swims, runs, climbs – and is working to get back to
volleyball and skiing). And he enjoys getting out and about – for walks, to
events, and for trips to cafes and the pub.
Hours and rate of
pay hours
10-15 hours a week, three days per week, paid at £19.20 per hour (the role is
shared with another PA). Monday-Friday – pattern of hours to be discussed
(some daily flexibility appreciated).
Location
Cambridge – CB3
DBS/Checks
Confirmation of Enhanced DBS check
Right to Work and references will be needed.
What you would
be doing…
L prefers to be as independent as possible with personal care – he will let you
know when he needs support with showering/dressing.
Working alongside L to promote and encourage independent living.
Cooking/preparing meals with L using fresh ingredients.
Supporting L with daily exercises, social inclusion, meeting with friends,
swimming, climbing and attending other activities and appointments.
Required skills
and experience
A friendly, easy-going, empathetic, reliable, trustworthy, pro-active person with
a positive attitude and youthful mind – this is more important than specific
experience supporting others.
Someone who shares similar interests, enjoys being active and is full of ideas
would be great.
Someone who knows their way around a kitchen and can cook simple, fresh,
healthy food is essential.
Someone who has a genuine interest in supporting others to live their best lives.
A driving licence is essential, ideally with access to your own vehicle and business
use insurance cover.
