| About the Direct Payment Holder |
A 5-year-old boy in reception class at a mainstream school is looking for a warm, patient, and energetic Personal Assistant. He has a diagnosis of global developmental delay and ADHD. He is full of energy, loves to move, run, climb and jump, and has a brilliant sense of humour with excellent comic timing. He thrives on routine and enjoys being outdoors in nature, visiting the park, scootering, football, trampolining and swimming. He is also very happy playing at home with activities such as train sets, drawing, painting, baking, singing, dancing and music. He enjoys interactive play but can also play independently once settled. He experiences communication difficulties but is making great progress with the right support, particularly when encouraged and reminded to use his words. He benefits from preparation before transitions, reminders about what is happening now and next, and songs or rhymes to support routine changes. He needs help with emotional regulation, consistent boundaries, and reminders to keep safe in the community. He wears pull-ups but can use the toilet for both urine and bowel movements with reminders and a little support. He takes time to warm up to new people, so a gentle, patient approach will be essential as he can become anxious during separations from his mum
