About the Direct Payment Holder | A caring and dedicated Personal Assistant is required to support a joyful and affectionate young girl who thrives with one-on-one attention. She has Phelan McDermid Syndrome, which affects her development, meaning she relies on adults for all aspects of her care. While she may not use words, she communicates beautifully in her own way—with smiles, eye contact, and reaching out for cuddles and tickles. |
Hours and rate of pay | £15 per hour | Part-time (10 hours term time / 20 hours holidays)

Training | Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:
• Safeguarding Children • Introduction to Paediatric first aid • Health and Safety / Moving and handling

What you would be doing… |
Assisting with personal care (dressing, hygiene, and toileting) Supporting at mealtimes, ensuring safety while eating (able to feed herself but may need assistance picking up small mouth-sized pieces or spoon-feeding where required) Providing snacks and drinks throughout the day at set times Encouraging movement and completing gentle physiotherapy exercises Engaging in activities such as listening to nursery rhymes, watching favorite TV shows, reading stories, and playing with toys Providing comfort and support during moments of frustration, which may be expressed through crying, shouting, or kicking legs Accompanying on outings and supporting social interactions Tidying to a certain degree in relation to caregiving duties

Required skills and experience | Female applicants only
Own driving license preferred (a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle will be provided for transportation) Must be able to reliably commute to Buntingford (SG9 9SS) Experience with hoist use, safe handling, and first aid training preferable Warm, patient, and reliable – thrives with consistency and kindness Energetic and engaging – enjoys attention and interaction Understanding and adaptable – every day is different, and flexibility is essential Able to follow a structured routine – familiarity and routine are key to well-being, with openness to implementing new engagement ideas Respectful of family privacy, needs, and home Excellent time-keeping and communication regarding shift patterns, cancellations, and changes to minimise disruption This advert complies with the Sex Discrimination Act (1975) Section 7 (2b).
