Seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Assistant to support an active man in his early thirties with autism and an anxiety disorder. The role involves assisting him in all areas of his personal, domestic, and leisure life, both at home and in the community. He enjoys a wide range of activities, including sports, food, bike rides, trampolining, and swimming. He has firm views and communicates effectively when given time and simple language. Your role will be to enable him to lead an enjoyable, fulfilled, healthy, and independent life. You will receive full training and professional support to help manage any challenging behaviour.

Hours and rate of pay | £12.00 – £15.34 per hour (24 hours, flexible to cover day and night)
Night shifts: £12.00 – £12.76 per hour (weekdays) Enhanced weekend rates |

Training | Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:
• Safeguarding Adults • Introduction to first aid • Health and Safety / Moving and handling

What you would be doing… | Encourage independence in personal care and daily routines
Assist with general housework, meal preparation, and laundry Support with menu planning, shopping, and cooking healthy meals Accompany and assist with social and leisure activities, including shopping, eating out, swimming, cycling, and visiting local attractions Bring your own ideas and interests to help develop and expand his areas of interest Respect the individual’s preferences and possessions Maintain confidentiality and privacy Adhere to the care plan and Positive Behaviour Support Plan Maintain appropriate records and monitor spending

Required skills and experience |
NVQ Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent
At least one year’s experience working with adults with autism and/or learning disabilities
Good physical fitness to support the individual in his activities Clean driving licence and confidence to drive the provided car DBS check required Appointment is dependent on successful completion of a two-week induction and a three-month probation period
Good knowledge of the local area A passion for supporting those with autism and learning disabilities to lead fulfilled lives Integrity, honesty, and the ability to work cooperatively within a team You will receive ongoing support and training to ensure you can work effectively and enjoy your role. We encourage an open, reflective communication style and a strong team ethos. Regular three-monthly reviews will be conducted to assess your progress and training needs.
