About the service user |
D has cerebral palsy she is a full time powerchair user she drives her own chair with headrest controls. D is non-verbal but very good at using her eye gaze device to communicate. She has a significant physical disability but no cognitive difficulties-she hates being babied and it is important for her to be treated as an adult.
There are no behaviour issues, D is lots of fun to be around, always laughing and joyful. D is a fun and adventurous 18 year old girl who enjoys sport, cooking, art and trying new things and has a great sense of humour.

Hours and rate of Pay |
5- 8 hours per week @ £16.50 per hour
Enhanced DBS clearance is essential.

What you would be doing… |
D wants her own independence so we are looking for someone who is able to take her out of the house lots to explore and for social opportunities. She is continent but needs support with all her personal care needs & is hoisted for all transfers. She has a g-tube but does eat orally.
Supporting during activities and trips, feeding G-tube and orally; so needs someone who doesn’t mind mess and is willing to learn how to feed her orally and use her g-tube. Toileting and showering, dressing and personal care, some simple cleaning tasks like washing up after she eats, mopping the wet room after a shower etc.

Experience is not essential but welcome, training will be provided we are looking for someone who gets along well with D.
Someone with a good sense of humour & fun who enjoys trying new things and exploring places, someone who is kind and flexible with their time.
A UK driving licence is required to drive D’s wheelchair accessible vehicle.
