Personal Assistant (PA)/Support Worker

About the Direct Payment Holder We require a personal assistant to support a direct payment holder who is visually impaired and has a muscle weakness rendering her a wheelchair user.

You will assist the teenager in all areas of personal, and social life, mostly at home. Your role is to enable her to lead an individual and independent life in our home. She is a fun, vibrant young person who delights in socialising and learning.

Hours and rate of pay Part time, over 2-3 hours on a Saturday evening between the hours of 18.30 and 21.30 (some flexibility on time), plus the potential to cover other evening shifts from time to time on a bank basis.

Pay is £20.00 per hour on Saturday evenings

Pay is £17.50 per hour Monday to Friday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Right to Work and references will be needed.

Training Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:

• Safeguarding Children

• Paediatric first aid

• Moving and handling

 

What you would be doing… You will be supporting with various tasks which include some personal care, getting ready for the day, light household chores, support with school work and any preparation needed for school. You will also be accessing the community and supporting the teenager to take part in social activities.
Required skills and experience Seeking a PA with the qualities below:

·        Be kind, considerate and caring

·        Having a good sense of humour and the ability to relate to young people is essential

·        Being physically fit is important given the support our daughter needs with moving and handling

·        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – the successful candidate must be outgoing with an engaging demeanour
