Personal Assistant Job Description
I need a personal assistant to support us to assist our secondary school aged daughter who has autism and a learning disability. She needs support in all areas of her personal, domestic and social life, both at home and in the community. My daughter has reduced mobility and uses a wheelchair in the community. My daughter is calm, happy and bubbly, she loves going on walks and car rides. Your role is to enable her to lead an individual and independent life in our home and in the community.
You must be reliable, able to work flexible hours, you must respect our privacy and understand our need for confidentiality. You will work under my direction you are accountable to me and you should respond to my requests.
Personal Assistant Tasks
The work involves some or all of the following tasks. As my daughters needs vary, it is important that you are flexible about the work and agree to undertake other reasonable tasks.
Personal Requirements
- Support to get in/out of bed or wheelchair
- Support with dressing and undressing
- Support to keep room and belongings tidy
- Assistance with personal hygiene
- Sit with her while watching TV
- Physiotherapy exercises and movement of limbs as required
Domestic Needs
- Preparation of snacks and drinks and clearing up
- Keep her room tidy and neat
- Assisting my daughter to move around our home
General Assistance
- To help my daughter with any chosen activity, inside or outside our home, making sure she is safe.
- Assisting my daughter into and out of my car/van
- Assist with getting to and taking part in social activities
Personal Assistant’s General Responsibilities
- 1 year experience of looking after children with Learning Difficulties – Essential
- Must be reliable and able to work flexible hours.
- Must hold a driving licence – Essential
- Someone who is able to interact with a teenager and should have a genuine interest in supporting people to achieve their goals
