| About the Direct Payment Holder | A rewarding opportunity has arisen for a compassionate and reliable Personal Assistant to support a 19-year-old young woman living in Welwyn Garden City.
She is non-verbal, autistic, and has severe learning disabilities. She is also visually impaired, although she manages this very well in her day-to-day life. In addition, she has congenital heart and lung disease (monitored by specialists) and epilepsy, which is managed with medication. She requires support with communication, social interaction, and engaging in meaningful activities. A small amount of assistance with personal care is also required, therefore a Female PA is essential for this role. |
| Hours and rate of pay | £19.45 per hour
During term time, support is required 16 hours per week, across Tuesday to Friday, split into:
Holiday hours may be available, subject to confirmation, and may include support in the community.

Supporting with morning routines (washing, dressing, breakfast, medication) Providing supervision and support while waiting for transport Meeting her after college transport and assisting with snacks Supporting with leisure activities and engagement at home Encouraging communication and interaction using non-verbal methods Supporting participation in social and community activities (during holidays)

| Required skills and experience |
The ideal candidate will be: · Compassionate, patient, and reliable · Calm and observant, with the ability to understand non-verbal communication (gestures, expressions, behaviours) · Attentive to detail and responsive to individual needs · Respectful, promoting dignity, independence, and choice · Positive, with a good sense of humour and the ability to build trust
Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities First aid training Experience administering medication Knowledge or training in epilepsy (desirable) A driver with access to a vehicle is preferred, but not essential
