| About me |
A caring family in Hertford is seeking a compassionate and patient Personal Assistant / Companion Support Worker to support a 43-year-old gentleman living with a rare form of early onset Familial Alzheimer’s Disease. He lives at home with his mother in a beautiful countryside property in the SG14 area, surrounded by large gardens and stunning views. Despite being in the later stages of his condition and having very limited speech, he remains physically active and enjoys spending time with people he knows and trusts. He communicates mainly through gestures, facial expression and pointing, and responds best to calm, reassuring and consistent support rather than constant conversation. He enjoys using the home gym, playing table tennis, walking the dog, watching comedy programmes and nature documentaries, and spending time outdoors. Prior to his illness, he was a keen runner and fitness enthusiast and still benefits greatly from remaining active and engaged. Due to medication and the progression of his condition, he can experience dizziness, fatigue and periods of confusion, meaning he requires close supervision and gentle support throughout the day, particularly when using stairs or moving around the home and community.
