The client is a young neurodivergent male who enjoys engaging in hobbies both at home and in the local community. He experiences anxiety and has a PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) profile, so he benefits from a calm, patient and flexible approach. He may need time to build trust with new people and responds best to a person-centred, relationship-led style of support.

Weekend availability required – Saturday or Sunday

| Training | Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:

Building a positive, trusting relationship with the young person and their family Providing calm emotional support, particularly when accessing the community Encouraging and facilitating engagement in hobbies—beginning at home and gradually within the local community Supporting the young person to feel safe, confident and comfortable during outings Using a flexible, person-centred approach tailored to his needs and pace

| Required skills and experience |
Experience working with or supporting neurodivergent young people Understanding of the PDA profile Experience supporting individuals with anxiety Awareness of ARFID (desirable but not essential) Ability to build rapport slowly and respectfully Calm, empathetic and patient approach Strong communication and willingness to work collaboratively with the family Flexibility and understanding that engagement may take time
