About the Direct Payment Holder  

A kind, patient and enthusiastic female Personal Assistant (PA) is required to support a 14-year-old girl with complex physical needs at home and in the community.

This young person has a rare chromosome deletion (2q32–34) which means she is non-verbal, uses a wheelchair, and is gastrostomy fed throughout the day and night. She enjoys engaging with others, exploring new sensory experiences, and accessing activities both at home and in the community.

 

Hours and rate of pay 4 hours per week during term time

8 hours per week during school holidays

Flexible hours to be agreed with the family to fit around their schedule.

£20 per hour (approx.)

 

Location Letchworth Garden City (SG6 area)
DBS/Checks Confirmation of DBS check

Right to Work and references will be needed.

Training Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:

• Safeguarding Adults

• Introduction to first aid

• Health and Safety

 

What you would be doing…  

Supporting with personal care, including washing, showering, dressing, and toileting (pad changes).

Assisting with gastrostomy feeding and setting up the feeding pump (training can be provided).

Using hoists and mobility equipment safely and confidently (training can be provided).

Encouraging and facilitating activities in the community, such as sensory play, local outings, and other stimulating activities.

Promoting comfort, dignity, and wellbeing at all times.

 

Required skills and experience  

Female PA required.

This advert complies with the Sex Discrimination Act (1975) Section 7 (2b).

Must be a driver – happy to use the family’s wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV).

Experience or training in the following is desirable (training can be provided if needed):

·        Moving and Handling

·        First Aid

·        Gastrostomy feeding and pump setup

Understanding of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and a positive, inclusive attitude is essential.

Must be reliable, patient, and able to respond calmly to the young person’s needs.
