About the Direct Payment Holder A patient, caring, and reliable Personal Assistant (PA) is required to support a bright and affectionate young person with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), moderate to severe learning disabilities, and speech and language difficulties. This young person has a wonderful smile, a great sense of curiosity, and a playful sense of humour.
Hours and rate of pay 4 hours per week initially, with potential for review and increase as trust and progress develop.

Flexible schedule — evenings or weekends (to be agreed with the family).

£16.25 per hour.

DBS/Checks Confirmation of DBS check

Right to Work and references will be needed.

Training Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:

• Safeguarding Adults/Children

• Introduction to first aid / Paediatric first aid

• Health and Safety / Moving and handling

 

What you would be doing…  

Spend time at home to develop familiarity and trust.

Support communication, routines, and structured daily activities.

Plan and take part in community outings such as swimming, trampolining, bowling, or walks in the park.

Encourage independence and participation in life skills, including light meal preparation.

Provide supervision during meals and activities to ensure safety, particularly due to Pica.

Offer reassurance and positive engagement during moments of anxiety or distress.

Collaborate with the family to plan and prepare structured, enjoyable activities.

 

Required skills and experience Driver with access to a car and business insurance is preferred.

Experience supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disabilities, sensory needs, and communication difficulties.

Awareness of Pica and safe supervision practices.

Calm, patient, and consistent approach with good communication and observation skills.

Training in safeguarding and supporting challenging behaviour is desirable.

Ability to plan ahead and provide a predictable, structured routine.
