£16 per hour Self Employed plus cost of petrol and food

Personal Assistant Job Description

My daughter is in her late 20s and has Downs Syndrome. She needs a personal assistant to assist her in social life, in the community. She likes going to cafes, going to the shops, playing easy boardgames and going for walks in parks. Your role is to enable her to lead an individual and independent life.

Requirements: patience, generally in good spirits, reliable and able to work the agreed hours. You will work under my direction, you will be accountable to me, and you should respond to our requests.

Personal Assistant Tasks

The work involves some or all of the following tasks:

Shopping

• Assistance with purchasing food in a café or restaurant and assistance with shopping in a supermarket.

General Assistance

. To take her to a chosen venue, for example, a museum, a stately home, a zoo, a park and bring her back home at the end of the session.

. To help her with any above chosen activity with buying tickets, walking around together, talking to her about what you and she are looking at.

• Assist her into and out of a car.
• Assist her with buying food in a café or restaurant.
• Play one or two board games with her after lunch.

Personal Assistant’s General Responsibilities

• Respect us
• Arrive at the agreed time, ready to work
• Give as much notice as possible if you are going to be late or can’t come
• Discuss any problems with me as soon as possible
• Respect our possessions /equipment and use them only with our consent.
