About the Direct Payment Holder  

A loving and energetic family in Welwyn Garden City is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Assistant (PA) to support their young daughter. She is a fun, happy, and active 6-year-old girl who is Autistic, has a learning disability, and is nonverbal. She uses photos, gestures, and vocalisations to communicate and enjoys engaging in sensory activities such as trampolining, swimming, soft play, and visiting parks.

 

Hours and rate of pay £14.50 per hour

6 hours per week during school holidays (schedule to be arranged in advance).

3 hours per week during term time (some weekends when required and mutually agreed).

 

Location Welwyn (AL7)
DBS/Checks Confirmation of DBS check

Right to Work and references will be needed.

Training Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:

• Safeguarding Children

• Introduction to first aid / Paediatric first aid

• Health and Safety / Moving and handling

 

What you would be doing…  

Providing personal care, including support with toileting and nappy changing.

Assisting with feeding during support hours.

Engaging in activities such as trampolining, soft play, parks, and other outings once a trusting relationship is built.

Encouraging communication using her preferred methods (photos, gestures, vocalisations).

Supporting her independence and helping her access activities in a way that suits her needs.

Ensuring her safety and well-being at all times.

 

Required skills and experience Female applicant required due to personal care needs.

Experience and knowledge of Autism, learning disabilities, and communication needs.

First Aid training.

A patient, kind, and bubbly personality with a passion for supporting young people.

A reliable and energetic individual who enjoys being active and engaging in sensory play.

Willingness to take the time to get to know her and support her on her terms.

Access to own vehicle with business class insurance to drive to and from activities.
