Essex Coalition of Disabled People
Purple builds on the success of its legacy organisation, Essex-based disability charity ecdp, a user-led disability organisation which provides a range of support for disabled people including support planning, payment and payroll services and independent advice.
ecdp Chief Executive and now Chief Executive of Purple, Mike Adams OBE, has been highly influential at a national level in shaping a new vision for disability designed to tackle the issues around employment and opportunities, which led to a rethink about the future of ecdp.
Providing Guidance and Support
With changes including the Government’s ambition to halve the employment gap for disabled people and businesses such as Barclays leading the way in recognising the value of and taking action to employ disabled people, Mike and the team knew the time was right to challenge the current conversation around disability and develop new thinking through a new community interest company, Purple.
Purple will provide guidance and support in line with the Government’s ambition to increase the number of Personal Health Budgets from 4,000 nationally to more than 50,000 within the next three years.
Championing Disabled People
Purple will continue the work of championing disabled people and providing personalised services, and deliver a new offer to businesses on a national scale that ensures we move the conversation from one of disadvantage and inequality to one about potential and value.
